Is Atmel studio compatible with Mac or Linux?

Google “Atmel Studio Supported Operating System” - all the knowledge of the world is at your fingertips. Take a stab at finding it out yourself before asking.

First result to that search is the official documentation, which says:

Supported Operating Systems
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or higher

Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 or higher
Windows 8/8.1

Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2

Windows 10

None of those are linux or mac os.

No, Atmel Studio won't run on Mac.
I have it working "fine" in a Virtual Box VM, though.

Microchip is adding AVR suport to their MPLAB-X IDE, and that DOES run on Macs...
