Maybe I'll agree once I've seen that they exist beyond the demo boards at any conference Atmel attends....
I couldn't even get samples through work, where Atmel knows us by first name since we buy millions of dollars worth of Atmega chips.
In light of the current hostile takeover bid, I think the Xmega has been delayed to maximize cash to address this action.
If Xmega does not come out very soon, the competition will offer the same enhancements in their products.
Hopefully the next board meeting will resolve these problems.

Nice theory. According to the original press release, xMegas were supposed to be shipping "Q2 or Q3" of 08, and the initial takeover stuff didn't happen till Q4...
Of course Microchip isn't doing great either. Their low-end USB chips were supposed to have been shipping by now, and aren't.
