AtmelStudio 6.x and Arduino

Well it had to happen. After completing two projects with the UNO and Arduino IDE, I was wondering if there was anything more fancy in terms of IDE. ( For all what it can do the Arduino IDE is a bit down to earth simpleton !!)

So the focus fell on Atmel Studio 6.2 and I downloaded it and even fired it up after installation. But the first impression was that it was a "crawler app" and takes ages to install, load whatever. And the process to load/compile/output a hex file to UNO seems to be not very simple ?

So the question is : Assuming I buy an ICE hardware is it really worthwhile to make the migration to AS ? Is the debugging interface robust ?

I did read some forum posts on that topic but what I could make out was the AS5.0 was a disaster and rest versions are kind of angels !

So is there any general tips to decide if the switch is worthwhile ??

I still use and like Atmel Studio 4. Easier to use than 6.2

Oh. So looks like its worthwhile to move to AS.

Could you link to a good tutorial on this migration ?

Thanks for your time...
