AtTiny 85 Bootloader FAIL

I've tried antthing i've found on all forums... all connections are ok, all settings... Arduino as Isp.. etc

I keep getting this error :

avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x03
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 2 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x03
....
vrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 10 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x03

I'm done with it, for 10 hours i keep searching until i've decided to write a topic...

Help ?
Thank you guys.

Which tiny85 bootloader is this? Which core are you using? Where is a schematic of your connections?

The ATTiny85 isn't normally used with a serial bootloader (as it doesn't have hardware serial, making the bootloader larger and slower, and it is usually used without an external crystal - but the internal oscillator isn't accurate enough for serial to work without tuning)

So, i've bought 3 new ones.
The setup is like this:

exactly the same, i have an Arduino Uno.
the attiny is with 8mhz osc.

Thank you
@spycatcher2k
@DrAzzy

I did put a 10uf capacitor and i've tried also with 100uf and 150~ i guess, nothing worked.
I don't understand why, i've tried with 2 separately attinys, nothing.
Connections and Uno are both OK the voltage is ok,
In Device Manager I got Port 3 (uno) all recognised, all works fine but I don't understan that error :frowning:

I did not ask you to tell us where you found it on the internet!

One more chance.

Sorry, so exactly as on that website
Attiny pins 1 to UNO pin 10
Attiny pins 2,3 not conected
Attiny pins 4 to UNO pin GND
Attiny pins 5 to UNO pin 11
Attiny pins 6 to UNO pin 12
Attiny pins 7 to UNO pin 13
Attiny pins 8 to UNO pin VCC (5v)

A capacitor 10uf from GND to RESET.

ARDUINO -> PC via printer Cable and that's all...

In menus is
Board : ATTINY 85
PROCESSOR : ATTINY 85
CLOCK INTERNAL 8 MHZ
..
PORT COM3 (UNO..)
PROGRAMMER ARDUINO AS IPS

ARDUINO VERSION 1.8.3
i can only post in 5/5 minutes sorry...

spycatcher2k:
on the ATTINY or Arduino?

On arduino, of course.

Okay, and...

Which core are you using?

And what were you attempting to do when you got those errors? "Burn Bootloader" I assume?

Those errors, when programming a device over ISP using an Arduino running Arduino as ISP sketch indicate a failure to communicate with the Arduino as ISP sketch on the Arduino you're using as a programmer.

Was the Arduino as ISP sketch successfully uploaded to the arduino being used as the programmer? Is there a 10uF capacitor between reset on the Arduino being used as the programmer and ground?

Also - this isn't your problem yet (the problems this can cause are further into the process) but did you connect a 0.1uf capacitor between Vcc and Gnd, right next to the attiny85? You always need a 0.1uF cap between supply and ground on digital IC's, including microcontrollers, and many tutorials omit this necessary component; without it, you may experience random resets, hangs, or failure to program.

OK..
I understand, since I'm a beginner it's pretty hard for me.
What do you recomend me to do to try to fix these issues ?
Thanks

"ARDUINO -> PC via printer Cable "

Really? How old of a PC do you have that it still has a printer connection?
What are you using to adapt it to USB to plug into the Arduino?

Arrogance will get you nowhere! Bye

An printer cable... this is how it's 'old' name is...

I think i made a big mistake writing here, showing all 'pros' here just comments like thei are superman/ hackerman, don't tell me you wasn't a beginner at first.

when i try to burn the bootloader to attiny...

spycatcher2k:
Nope - That is a USB A-B cable, used by Printers, Scanners, and a multitude of devices. A Printer cable is a specific cable, nothing to do with arduino, but could be used with a home built programmer.

Attention to detail (or lack their-off) is probably what the issue is.

Lets try AGAIN - post a close up, in focus picture of your wiring, and a snapshot of your desktop with your mouse on what you click to produce the error.
