ATTiny85 Programmers?

This claims to program them, but where’s that cable go to? the ISP header on an Arduino? or do i just push in an ATTiny85 into the out of that ribbon cable and program it like that?

OR i shall just stick to the ISP arduino sketch and upload like that… :-s

it is the same wiring as ehen you use Arduino As ISP

That's me programming an ATtiny85 with a programmer similar to yours. The second picture shows how I did it (I'm not saying it's the best way but it works).

That does seem nice and cheap, but if you've got some components laying about it's simple enough to create your own shield with a 8-pin DIP socket on it, or just use a temporary breadboard solution if not. Aside from the protoboard and headers for making the shield, you'll need a 10uF cap and the DIP socket. On mine I also took the advice of the ArduinoISP sketch comment - and added the 3 status LEDs which comes in quite handy:

// 9: Heartbeat - shows the programmer is running
// 8: Error - Lights up if something goes wrong (use red if that makes sense)
// 7: Programming - In communication with the slave

not actually bought one lol... just wondering where and how ... so the ribbon cable simply goes to the correct places on the attiny85? got it...

Or maybe one with a ZIF socket that works for ATtiny84s as well.

Well i just bought one....

I'll make a board like that, plug it in, load in the binaries (in chinese i think lol, this should be fun!) and upload to the attiny85 without the need of an arduino!
