Audio output for n00b

I'm starting my first Arduino project for my BFA thesis exhibition and I have a question about the audio out. The project is a variation of this one: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/Tone3 -- what I'd like to do is run the output to a powered mixer via a 1/4" unbalanced cable (guitar cable basically) instead of running it to a piezo speaker. I already own all of the amp equipment and want to be able to combine the Arduino (via the mixer) in with other interactive sound that will be in the installation.
So, basically, how do I do this? I'm completely new to anything like this and coming at it from a bonehead guitarist/sculptor's point of view so don't hesitate to talk down to me. Thanks so much!
