Augmented Reality interface for microcontrollers

It supports the PI and YUN.

Is it so bad that it only merits an entry under Bar Sport?

Or would it be worth moving this Thread to the Yun section of the Forum?

...R

Had no idea where to put it.

Is there a question?

I had understood that the OP was just bringing it to our attention. I have only looked at the link very briefly. It seemed like it could be useful to some people so I suggested moving it to here.

In review of the project, it looks interesting. But a certain indecision seems to surround the project.

Jesse

Yeah, this is only to highlight so I though putting it where people ask questions would be weird.

I tried installing the open hybrid server on my old Raspberry Pi but it wouldn't install. I guess only newer Pi. I don't have a YUN so can't play with that.

@jessemonroy650, what indecisions do you see?
It's only an experiment at this point.

@mistergreen, are you involved in developing this product?

No, just chatted with some of the guys over on their forum. They're from MIT's media lab, I think.

@mistergreen,

The project has a strange name that suggests the are not familiar with the mobile landscape. "hybrid" is currently used for a class of mobile apps that include technologies from Phonegap, Ionic, Sencha, just to name a few. It encompasses 20-30% of all mobile phone app.s

The word "augmented" is only used ONCE on the main page, and it is hidden as part of the second sentence. This indicates the authors are using a "narrative style" vs. a "newspaper style". English majors don't make good developers.

The technology they are using is fairly old. It is a video overlay on physical object. A neat trick, but not really useful.

They make elaborate claims with video evidence. A common technique that has been great for TV, but not useful for developers.

Lastly, the BIG letters MIT, tell this may be borrow technology, and likely less than useful.

MIT is great at working up the Press, but not much good at delivering.

Best of Luck
Jesse
