Alright, I am a complete newbie with this any of this stuff and need a lot of direction on what would be the best way to go about this. Any and all help/advice will be INSANELY appreciated!
So, I have a 1 channel Orange Dark Terror amp head (https://orangeamps.com/products/guitar-amp-heads/tiny-terror-series/dark-terror-2/) that I bought for recording purposes, which it is great for. It has really nice clean tones and really aggressive distortion tone and amazing sound in-between.
My problem, is that I am now in a band and would like to be able to use this amp in a live setting, seeing as my current live amp's distortion channel has started to go and it slowly fades to an ugly clean sound. So I had to resort to using a distortion pedal.
My Dark Terror's tube distortion is a thousand times better sounding than any digital pedal I can buy (my personal opinion lol, i'm sure there are really awesome sounding distortion pedals out there.) So here comes my project.
I would like to design a footswitch pedal, that will automatically turn my volume and gain knobs to there respective positions for my clean and distorted sounds "instantaneously" (i know "instant" isn't truly possible but we should be able to get darn close). But, I would still like to be able to adjust and tweak my sounds without having to take the pedal apart to plug in the board and edit the sketch to adjust the settings, preferably by turning a set of knobs on each "channel" that correspond to my volume and gain knobs.
So here is what I have in mind to emulate a footswitch on my 1 channel amp:
Say I have 4 "channels", each with there own respective footswitch (something along these lines http://www.mammothelectronics.com/category-s/32.htm) that would link to 2 or 3 pots (3 if i decide to include the eq sculpting "Shape" knob which I don't change too often) which would in turn control the position of high speed continuous rotation servos that the arms of which would be attached to the knobs on my amp. And by stepping on the switches of each channel, the servos would move to the positions set by the pots on each respective channel. This way, if I decide I want to change my sound, I could just turn turn the knobs on the pedal instead of re-programming the board.
My concerns are this:
Is this setup even feasible? Would wiring this setup be overly-complicated? Is the hardware I mentioned the best way to go about this? Most importantly can I even do this with an Arduino Uno R3?
If anyone has any better ideas or different hardware to try or anything that could make this footswitch be the best it can be my ears are wide open. I haven't ordered any hardware yet because I don't want to buy a bunch of stuff to have it turn out to not even be usable. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!
