Hello to everyone, this is my first topic and i'm looking for some help to design my first project with arduino.
First of all excuse me for my english anyway I would like to realize an Automatic door locks of that kind that are put beside the door and that can be stretched to block the door itself. Then I would like to control the opening or closing of this door block with an app on my smartphone.
The problems are either that I don't know how to program a motorized door block or if any exist.
The simplest approach is to buy the lock hardware, and the two simplest things you can buy are an "electric strike" and an "electric deadbolt". Google for those two things, they're about $20-300 each depending on quality (strength/security) and are switched on/off with a relay carrying only low voltage (usually 12V or 24V). You will need to choose between fail-secure (locked when no power is applied) and fail-open (unlocked when no power is applied).
You can also buy ZigBee door locks (with touchscreen code entry and ask sorts of fancy features) from Yale and a couple of other vendors, but interfacing with one of those will be quite complex and probably difficult. Also expensive.
And keep in mind the safety issue of installing any kind of electric door lock that would prevent anyone from entering the room in case of emergency situations that are trying to rescue in case of fire, earthquakes, etc, where there is a total power loss and inhabitants might be unconscious.
