Automotive aTtiny packaging for automation

I'm considering to use an Automotive grade ATtiny 45. But it appears to only come in 'cut tape' packaging. Is that normal for MCUs? I'm making 100 so I'd like to pick parts that can be assembled through automation.

Yes, that's what you want - it's that plastic tapenwith the parts in it; it's what pick and place machines are made to work with. , many assembly houses will charge extra for any packaging other than tape.

Thanks. This is my first PCB design coming from Arduino so I appreciate your explanation. For some reason I thought the assembly shops preferred tubes and reels. That's good to know.

They generally most prefer reels - but a reel is hundreds or thousands of a part, so us hobbyists usually don't go making boards where the parts used come on reels. Tubes are generally not preferred - they're not as well suited for automated assembly.

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. I sent you a PM
