Availability or microprocessor’s

Hi ,

In this chip crisis , anyone know where you can buy 168’s , 328’s in DIP packages ?

If you find out please let us know. A couple of weeks ago someone found some, but they were $30.00 each (yup, thirty dollars).

recently quoted over £300 for some PIC24 devices

Jameco seems to have some at $15.00 each.

it would be better to use this crisis as a time to refine coding ability unless you have the money for it,probably best to try to buy the chip off a dev board seller that was had it in stock for a while and salvage all the other components would still be half the price of a bare chip in my experience

Do you know of any dev board sellers I could look at .

There are some Uno rev 3 boards (the ones with DIP processors) listed on Ebay and Amazon. Still pricey, though.

if you dont mind the wait aliexpress is good just do a little research on the boards first
digikey is good also
if "ITS MY MONEY AND I WANT IT NOW!" id use amazon/ebay for fast deliver like the lad above me said .
sorry cant be much more help unprecedented times ya know

You did not post your location, but here in the Netherlands I found a shop with some stock selling them for €6.30 (incl VAT) a piece (with Optiboot bootloader)

Thx

In UK - they have sold out of bare processors unfortunately .
Others at6:30 worth a look

Unfortunately Uk post and import makes them rather expensive ( €15 postage ).
But if needs must..

I checked RS Components (rs-online.com) for availability of various memory chips. I have some SPI SRAM, but only slow I2C EEPROM, so I checked for SPI EEPROM, but everywhere I looked (through-hole only) they are out of stock, with the earliest delivery date towards end of August.

Guess we have to make do with what we have at the moment.

Hah! I am going to pry the DIPs out of my old boards and recoup my investment.

think our hardware engineers found some in the end

There seem to be some of the newer AVRmmmDpp chips available, even in DIP28.
