I just noticed that the Installation and Troubleshooting section is first on the list on the forum selection sidebar, don't you think that is 95% of the reason project posts end up mis-posted there? Why not move it down, put another one, maybe Project Guidance there?
I’d probably move the first three to a separate category altogether.
You're wasting your keyboard. This has been raised a few times.
It looks to me like some mods love to move postings to other forum sections more than fixing inappropriate captions.
Well the former requires much less thought than the latter. I doubt that they love doing it, though...
… and may have zero influence over the site’s organization.
The caption of the topic is the creativity of the OP
During the six months that I have been on the forum, I have never seen moderators change the title, no matter how incomprehensible and stupid it may be. It seems to me that the moderators have an agreement about this
AFAIK the responsibles only can not agree about a better caption.
Moderators can't change it. So stop blaming them. They have tried to convince the higher powers and the result was zero. Arduino (whatever that is) does not want to change.
I'm not a moderator but can move topics. And sometimes I just want to scream and insult the OP.
Personally, I'm not blaming anyone. Too bad if there is some kind of corporate culture that is aloof and top down oriented. It's not uncommon.
Sorry, was not aimed at you, just at those that seem to be negative about the moderators.
I probably didn't understand the original post. I meant captions of the topics, created by users. It are often either very long or completely meaningless, but the moderators never correct them when moving the topics.
Then a moderator can suggest the poster to choose a more meaningful title. That's what the user can do himself, not reserved to mods.
Or, a helper can suggest it.
I'm thoroughly fed up with doing it.
How could we do that? If the 'caption' (I think you mean title) makes sense it doesn't need fixing, and if it doesn't make sense how are we (or anyone else) supposed to know what a sensible title would be?
E.g. "IDE installation and troubleshooting"
I thought we were talking about the poor titles some questioners give to their topics, not the title of the forum section. My reply was about the poor titles to questions.
It's my understanding that the original question was about the category titles.
A while ago I came up with the following suggestion / idea that possibly could prevent the incorrect use of categories by new users while discussing it with an Arduino team member who is not involved in the web site; I only worked out "Using Arduino".

And yes, there will be a few more categories but in this case I think it's worth it.
