avrdude help

I'm trying to upload a program and burn fuse bits simultaneously. I'm able to get the program loaded, but based on the behavior of the chip, I think the fuse bits aren't being burnt (as if the clock divider is set wrong). I don't see anything suspicious in the verbose output. Is there something obvious I'm messing up here?

I'm using an atmega328p and an Atmel AVR ISP MKII to program it

The chip behaves the same as if I did the following command:

No, I don't think there is any way to embed fuse settings in the .hex.

Were both .hex files compiled with the same value of build.f_cpu in the boards.txt definition of the selected board?

Leave the -u out of the command and you should be able to see if the fuses change value from the write.

This is my command on Linux.

I went from factory settings to Uno settings with no problems other than the Blink ran extra slow on factory settings.

Yes they did have the same 10000 entry. However I discovered a few peculiar things about the old and new setups.

First, in my old scripts I was using a definition of the 328p inside avrdude.conf with a version of avrdude from Crosspack.

Second is if I don't include an avrdude.conf in the avrdude command line for the avrdude used by Arduino, I get a strange error. (I have no idea who jenkins is)

Finally, if I use safe mode the command line gets stuck trying to write to the chip and I have to terminate the process.

jenkins is the name of Arduino's build server. /Users/jenkins/jenkins/workspace/avrdude-staging/label/mac-mini/objdir/etc/avrdude.conf is the path on the computer where they compiled avrdude.
