avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00 [Please Read]

Hello everyone,

Ever since I have installed Arduino 1.0 I have been plagued with uploading issues. I have 4 boards... 2 unos (1 rev 3), 1 Duem, and a Nano. I have tried uploading in Arduino 1.0 IDE and in Visual Studio.Net 2010 using the Visual Micro Add-in. I am using a Win 7 box (32-bit) but have tried on a 64-bit machine as well.

In .0023 all boards upload fine. I could stay with .0023 but I have to modify/downgrade any new libraries and that blows.

In 1.0, all boards give me the same result. I have done a search in this forum with over 40 pages of results to this error. Suggestions are:

  1. Change Baud rate
  2. USB drivers bad
  3. Hitting reset button at upload (doesn't work)
  4. A lot of ID-10T errors

It seems many people have this issue. The problem is... Mr Brian Dean.... you don't create a specific enough compile error message.

We have a lot of gurus on here. Many of the posts have never even had even one single response.

Could we pretty pretty please with sugar on top hear some responses from people who know what they are talking about with specific steps to try and maybe a descriptive explanation of whats really going on?

I am sure I speak for MANY users with my same dilemma... we sincerely thank you in advance for your time and expertise.

Let's get this thing sorted out. What do you say guys???? And gals  I really love Arduino and I really would like to move up to 1.0

Bump

Sounds like the problem is in the PC. The Uno and Duemilanove use different USB drivers and have separate USB hardware.

Did you try a different USB port? Did you try rebooting the PC. Are you sure you selected the correct serial port under Tools? Are you sure you selected the correct board type under Tools?

If you can get one Arduino working you can use it to refresh the firmware on the other Arduinos.
