avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding: SOLUTION?

Hi guys, I’ve searched in the forum for the solution but no-one worked for me. My arduino uno R3 does not work: when I attach it to Mac and try to upload some sketch (also blink sketc) I have the error in the subject. The RX led blink but the L led is always on..

The port and the shield are correct in the IDE...

Do you have any solution?

Try to keep pressed the reset button does not work..

What version of OS X are you using?

?? If you have a shield connected to Arduino then try to remove a shield and to upload sketch without it.

cweston: What version of OS X are you using?

OS X 10.10.1

spycatcher2k: Have you made sure you selected UNO in boards.

Yes UNO is correctly selected..

Is this the first time you have had an Arduino hooked up to this Mac?

If so, you may be experiencing a common issue with the Apple FTDI driver, which affects Mavericks and Yosemite.

The often recommended a solution fix this is with the following...

  • Disable the Apple Driver:

cd /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns sudo mv AppleUSBFTDI.kext AppleUSBFTDI.disabled sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions

or using a prebuilt utility such as this

After doing this you should be able to see something similar to /dev/tty.usbmodem1421 when listing your devices and should be able to upload.
