Back emf diode

I will be connecting a 2.4w 12v coil to the mos switch on the board above do I need to connect a diode across the coil to prevent back emf? Or will the characteristics take care of that?

They don't say what model of MOSFET they use. Without that detail it is impossible to say if the MOSFET has enough protection built in. It would be safer to include the external diode.
