bad CPU type in executable

I am getting this error when running arduinosetup from Matlab and trying to Program the MKR1000 with MKRMotorCarrier fitter - can not progress forward in the Arduino Engineering Kit as a result (stuck at Chapter 2 Matlab Getting Started - Configuring Arduino Libraries). I am using a Mac Air with MacOS 10.5.3.
I have installed:
MKRMotorCarrier library version 1.05
Arduino AVR boards 1.8.2
Arduino SAMD Boards 1.8.5

I note that a similar report was made in January Can someone explain to me how to fix this error: "bad CPU type in executable" - MATLAB Answers - MATLAB Central

If it is not compatible with macos 10.5.3 when will it be made so? This is stopping me from progressing with AEK.

I have been told by Matlab support that support for Mac OS 10.5.3 was discontinued with the release of MATLAB R2009a. Please refer the below documentation link for more information.

And that I need MATLAB R2019b release for it to work with MacOS 10.5.3:Please refer the below documentation link for more information.

I received the Arduino Engineering kit with R2019a, how can I upgrade it to R2019b?
