Not very old......and came off a little too easy. Full price doesn't always mean better......
Anybody have the same problem?

Appears the soldering was done poorly.
.
It does make one appreciate the type B.
I took a closer look under a magnifying glass. It doesn't look like solder was used at all.....just glue.
try soldering it back on
It may happen. There was a layer of the circuit board that came up with it. I just have to figure if there is any routing inside that section.
Also happened on my YUN but it hadnt come all the way off so a quick touch with a very fine tip iron and a dab of epoxy around it to make sure.
And NO it was not abused at all in fact it is on a test board and was unplugged maybe a total of 10 times before it started to go intermittent for power on.
Also noticed some of the newer "official" boards have those super cheap flat very bendy chinese pins on them.
Not a good sign.
My wife, the destroyer of usb ports on phones and tablets, is having a good chuckle over this. Like you, I am always careful.
This micro got put on the bread board a few months ago and has been plugged in ever since. I only noticed what happened because the socket stayed on the cable and prevented me from plugging it into my discovery board.
Maybe we should get somebody from QC to drop by the forum for some feedback.
And yes I know the wife thing...
Thats probably the only reason I have oodles of those nasty tiny usb cables...She will walk by her phone pick it up and walk off without unplugging it...
Dang she has even picked up and unplugged mine in the middle of a data transfer so she can charge hers down here cos her lead stopped working (reason as above LOL)
My stepdaughter is a toilet fanatic with phones 6 and counting although that last was a while ago..Thank god she buys her own phones etc.
It would actually be a good thing for some QC people to have a look at this.
You can see the damage to the fibre board. I have no idea what was routed below the chunk taken out.
I am going to try ad do something with it. I'm more amazed that this actually happened.
This sort of thing is unfortunately very common with USB micro connectors.
