Hi there, im currently trying a sd card and ps2 barcode scanner with arduino uno. The program is meant to read the database of words saved on the sd card (txt file) and then when scanned by the barcode scanner . The problem am facing is that the barcode scanner is not reading words!! can you help me plz ..thanks
Barcode scanner ain't supposed to scan and decode barcode images? I'm sorry but I haven't seen any barcode scanners or readers reading words, yet.
Does the scanner function normal otherwise, have you scanned different codes by connecting it to the keyboard connector of a PC ? I don't know which "words" or data you're getting, but it should at least show the same data if you're scanning a code twice.
In my case I bought an 2nd hand POS-system, which had a PS/2 barcode-scanner inside it. I simply plugged it into another PC, opened a notepad-application and it started scanning without needing drivers and stuff. Later I learned a lot of different types of barcode exist, printed a page with different ones and also found a few it can't scan. That could... be a problem as well.
