Basic Non Invasive Hall Effect Sensor

Hi All,

Just wondering if someone could give a simple explanation on how you use a hall effect sensor to measure DC current and or voltage non invasive.

The circuit for this is basically a solar panel charging a battery.

Any help is much appreciated

Cheers

Tom

I don't know of any way to measure voltage without actually hooking up to the voltage with wire, but a Hall Effect sensor can indeed measure Direct Current.

Have a look at http://openenergymonitor.blogspot.ca/2009/09/experiments-with-hall-effect-current.html

For the circuit, and a quick Arduino sketch, see http://openenergymonitor.blogspot.ca/search/label/hall%20effect

Thanks for the reply, really appreciated :)!!!!!!!!

Note that Hall current sensors are only any good for measuring moderately high currents, for example 1A or more.
