today i was in one of my dismantle all the junk i have laying around moods, now i have tons of parts neatly waiting for use, on the list is a battery pack out of a newer tablet that broke and is too cheap to be worth repairing (i could buy a new one just like it for only a little more than the cost of a new screen with touch overlay)
anyway i was wondering if this battery could be used to power my arduino uno r3
the battery says
AE25102105P 3.8V
4000 mAh 15.2 Wh JC
its got 5 wires out of it so im guessing thats for both using the battery and charging it at the same time if need be?
Looks like it is 3.8 volt and that is too low for an UNO, you need at least 5vdc. I wouldn't mess around with old lithium ion batteries, if that's what it is. Wouldn't want to start a fire and but down the house.
What Ray says. Unless you have the correct charging circuit, it will be difficult to charge the battery. Look through your junk and see if you can't pull the circuit out of the tablet as well. Usually Liions don't explode, but they do get hot and "plump up" (and, of course, stop working.) Of course if you have a small pinprick in the shell of the battery, hot liquids that catch fire on contact with moist air will shoot out of the hole. It's kinda cool to watch. (do it outside, away from anything flammable, and be sure to stand back. Use an ABC type extinguisher.)
