Battery is not powering Fio, however through USB it works fine

Hi,

I'm using Fio for the first time and I've connected Fio to a 250mah 1S battery (to BAT +, -) terminals.
When I switch on the power switch, nothing happens (with or without xbee on it).

However, when I connect USB cable, CRG led lits up and also power on led glows. I want to use Fio wirelessly, so please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong or if there's a work around to fix this issue.

Was the battery charged? When you turn on the power do you get 3.3V at the 3.3V pin?

No, I don't get 3.3V when connected to lipo alone. I get 3.3V only when connected through USB.
I charged lipo through Fio for an hour. May be lipo is damaged(I shorted the leads for couple of secs while soldering), I will use another lipo and update if that works.
