Battery power supply for Arduino

Hello!

I want to run the Arduino from an 8 AA batterypack (12V). This same pack also powers my EL-wire. Is it possible to connect the Arduino to the same pack without programming? How do I connect this to which pins?

Thank you all!

Yes, you an do all that, just feed the 12v into the Vin pin or (preferably) the barrel jack connector.

Thank you dc42!

I assume that the ground wire can be connected to either ground pin on the arduino?

Correct. I normally use one of the ground pins for the ground side of any sensors or other inputs, and the other ground pin for the power supply and the ground side of any output devices. That helps avoid ground noise generated by outputs or the power supply being picked up by the inputs.

Great! Thank you very much!
