It’s really exciting when you start a new interest or hobby.
The possibilities are endless - and that’s true.
The challenge is - at the. beginning, you’re like a 16 year-old.
You’re going to get a car, you’re going to get a licence, you’re going to drive everywhere. The freedom is exhilarating ! Gonna, gonna, gonna…
Your parents will tell you to -
- get a permit, then
- take lessons, finally,
- get a full licence - and eventually
- a car of your own.
Chances are, you’ll take out a taillight, or fender within a couple of years - that’s part of the learning process.
Does this sound familiar ?
Your Arduino or other computerised project is EXACTLY THE SAME.
You need to confront your weaknesses, and lack of knowledge.
You need to read the rules, and learn to drive before you’ll be any good at it.
Sure you can photocopy someone else’s licence, you can buy a car and follow someone else driving around… but sooner or later that won’t work.
You want to go somewhere else, or get caught at a red light, while they disappear into the distance.
Can you drive yet?
The police pull you over… that copied licence doesn’t cut it.
Ok, now you want to tow a trailer, and reverse it onto a driveway. Hmm… my learner/beginner skills didn’t help with that.
You have the same experiences while discovering, learning and growing with the virtually unlimited combination of processor, peripherals and software.
Same words your parents told you…
Slow down, take it easy, listen to others and practice.
It’s possible, but there’s a good chance you’re not quite ready yet.
