I cannot find male connectors which would match the arduino board fitted female connectors. I am searching for wire connectors, with crimps or without (otherwise it's clear that 2.54mm pitch pcb headers work great , arduino shield style). Anybody has suggestions?
It's a standard 0.025 inch square post. Although I'm not sure they commonly come in wire-to-singlepin versions (it'd be hard to get the flat sides in the right direction...)
Could be standard but I have still not found a suitable connector... seems most connectors for 2.54 pitch (0.1 inch) are female. I need a male connector to plug in arduino female headers. I found some made by molex but at the asked price, I would consider replacing the female headres by male (pins) on the arduino board. Or I will have to make a shield with screw pcb connectors.
I don't know where to find new ones, but I salvaged some extra-long header pins from an old disk drive (really old, 5.25" full height) and use them to bridge the female header on the arduino to a female cable.

I use these :

I just snap of as many as needed, solder a piece of hookupwire to the "short" metal end, and cover the joint with heatshrink. In the other end i put whatever connector is needed, often one of the same to go in a breadboard.
This way i can make single, dual, quad, or whatever connectors very cheaply.
Of course these don't crimp on you must solder. And the heatshrink is important, otherwise the wires break of very easily.
Unfortunately i don'thave a partnumber, because i found mine in a "special offer bin" in the electronics store.
they are .1 inch pin strip headers, I use these http://www.mouser.com/search/refine.aspx?Ntt=517-6211TG from mouser http://www.mouser.com/catalog/632/1199.pdfbut they are available from all the electronics distributers. Or, as posted earlier, pull them from old computer boards and disks.
