Best method to measure suspension travel on a RC truck.

Hi. I am trying to measure suspension travel of a rc truck. What is the best(in budget terms   ) to measure it live on such small scale. I found some liniar position sensors but its quite expensive for a pair of 4.

There's conductive rubber cord that increases its resistance when stretched.

Depending on how much space you have available, a resistive flex sensor may work.

A analogue Hall effect sensor and magnet might work - need to check if this will be affected by the nearby motor.

Two accelerometers, one each end will allow you to calculate the relative motions for high speed impacts.

Try attaching a potentiometer to one of the arms. Level sensing for xenon light vehicles work like that.
You can read the level through an analog pin and then create a conversion formula
