DS1307 is another good one you can use for your project. It's so cheap, precise enough and very popular with many libs and tuturials on the web. Should try with it: Overview | DS1307 Real Time Clock Breakout Board Kit | Adafruit Learning System

I would be chary of the DS1307 for anything but casual use. It doesn't take much of an environmental change to make it go off. The DS3231 is about the same price, far more accurate, and can use exactly the same code. Although I just use it as a DS1307 replacement, I understand it is a lot more versatile, and is also less flakey in the battery charging department.
