Hi guys! I'm working on a project in which I need my arduino to send and recieve SMS messages from my smartphone. However, I did not realize that the Telefonica SIM card only works with other Telefonica devices, and the T-Mobile SIM card I bought only can be activated with a registered T-Mobile device. I really don't want to spend any more money on SIM cards that won't work for what I'm trying to do. Could somebody tell me which brand of SIM card I should use? This is a project for school and I've been stuck on this for a while, so time is somewhat of the essence. Thank you!
The country you reside in my have some bearing on suggestions offered.
Can't you borrow a sim card just to test it. Where I live I get differing coverage with the different networks.
I'm living in Los Angeles, California. I can borrow some SIM cards, but I would like to have a long term solution to this problem, if possible. And I would like to not spend a large amount of money for a contract with a provider.
Given that some people appear to be having difficulty getting network access I would borrow one first to ensure you get the coverage needed. Once you find one that works...
Probably a good idea to find one that works first. I just put money on the Telefonica card and cant text myself. Currently living in Nevada. Anyone have any idea of how to work these sim cards in the united states? I got one for coverage in the americas which works, however, I cant text my phone. nevada #...
Is there certain parameters i need to enter like a long distance phone call?
my number given to me by telefonica is +34590100107 please help!!!
Might as well go by a GSM sim card rushmansam because I'll tell you what; I just wasted about 15 bucks for something that wont do what I need. Its better to get something that you can use.
Just wanted to add in that I am now trying to use a AT&T mobile go sim card. So yous guys in the US of A can rule that one off the list. No success with this type of GSM sim card.
I was able to receive messages from carrier about activation from module, but nothing else!
I narrowed it down to this so far:
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
OK // I type this to check on sms
at+cmgs
+CMS ERROR: 604 // has to do with ME functionality
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
these results are with the M2M sim card as well*//edit
my new search begins!
Update! Got the GSM shield to fully function properly with a AT&T go phone sim card. For anyone in the States, this will do the trick. Be sure to get the right plan and you good to go baby!
If you are using the device in the US, you can buy sims online and have them shipped to you in a few days: The Intelligent IoT Network | Aeris << that is the link. The service is called Neo. Super fast and easy to use! Let me know if you have any questions!
