"Best" way to have an on/off switch for a board with a connected battery

As the title suggests, what's the best way to have an on/off switch for a MKR board that has a JST connector for battery backup? Is there a clever way to put a transistor, resistor and push switch such that it can be held down to switch on and switch off and minimise standby drain ? I've had a few googles but can't find anything relevant. I don't want to have to remove the JST connector each time to switch it off.

Bonus points if the switch can be a 3 way: off, on and non-latching "enter pairing mode" (for the project I'm doing.

Ah looks as if this has been asked a number of times already! typical it only shows me after I've submitted !

At this point I am guessing your question has been answered.
