Do you want a panel mountable button with a clearance hole and keyslot, a panel mountable button with clearance hole & tapped screw holes, a stationary table top button, a PCB mountable through hole button, a PCB mountable SMD button, limit switch, etc?
There are many types.
Without much else to go on I can generally recommend arcade buttons as they are cheap, anywhere from 18 to 25 mm in diameter and are made to withstand people bashing on them. Even if they break they can be replaced easily and are easy to mount with the bonus of coming in multiple colours and transparency for a variety of effects and customization.

I've been looking at push buttons for my project, but all the ones i seem to find are tiny ( like the size of a small coin ) .
can anyone suggest some big buttons ? ( maybe like a inch or two in size )
thank you for your time

Sparkfun has really nice pushbuttons that seem to fit your description. Check this link:
They have all different colors. The pushbutton itself is about 1 inch in diameter, the body is about 1-1/4 diameter and the switch is about 3 inches long. The switch itself is a high quality snap action microswitch - the button make a nice audible and tactile "click" when pressed or released.
