how to determine phase relationship motor winding 1 is black & green winding 2 red & blue....if black is 1a green 1b what color is 2a red or blue ?? how do you tell properly if they are reversed
If the motor goes the wrong direction, disconnect all power sources, swap the two leads to one coil, and reconnect power.
This site has great explanations to understanding stepper motors, Stepper motor - Wikipedia

Roger,
A 4 wire stepper has two coils. coil A and coil B. It does not matter what polarity each color is. It only matters that each coils wires are paired. So the (black) in the black green pair can be either A+ or A-. If you do not know what colors share a coil hold two wires together and rotate the stepper. If you have the coil pair you will feel the resistance while you are turning the shaft. If you have one wire each of the opposite coil there will be no difference in resistance while turning the shaft.
