I know its bit silly but i had it from way back. Im trying to become more comfortable with loops, functions and programming logic overall before i venture into more serious Waters. I tried programming in c in codeblocks but find more pleasure in outputing a led or something than a printf and such.
I think that you will learn to do more than blink leds. I think you have the itch.
Arduino is an example of Wiring, there is a book named Processing and Wiring. Processing is the PC side and there is a Java based language at processing.org that is much like Arduino. They connect through USB to interface a PC to the world.
But somewhere along the way, most Arduinauts are happy with just the boards.
Still, if you learn this, it can connect to that as a path forward.
