Bluetooth Monitoring

Hi all,

I'm new to arduino but will probably need to use one for an upcoming university project.

What I need is two sensors that will monitor for nearby bluetooth devices and also measure the sound level.

Can anyone recommend which arduino is more appropriate (would like to spend as little as possible) or any other general tips?

Much appreciated,

Your requirements are too vague to give an unambiguous advice. Please elaborate.

That said, start with an UNO, they are not that expensive.
The XBEE modules and shields might have another price tag.

Check a site like sparkfun.com for indication of prices.

Which University?

Basically I want to monitor a queue, so I want to place one device at the entry point and one at the exit point.

All I need is to be able to plug in a bluetooth dongle to scan for nearby devices and store the data for later processing.
