Bluetooth Serial ATTiny85

This is related to this discussion. I was thinking of buying the ATTiny85, but didn't know if Serial communication encompasses even Bluetooth. I have a HC05.

If I use not the PC, but Bluetooth as a Serial Device, would I be able to pull it off?

There is the cheap bluetooth module HC-05 that connects to arduino serial port.

Arduino's serial can talk to bluetooth in the same way as it talks to the PC serial monitor.

You might find the following background notes useful

Note that some bluetooth modules come set to a different baud rate. This means you need to alter the command Serial.begin(9600) accordingly Same goes for the setting in the bottom right corner on the serial monitor

The tiny85 does not really have the resources to work with serial and perform much else. You would be better picking an arduino with at least a USART port. The Pro Mini is about the same size as the usual BT modules and has the same MCU as the UNO. You can also set them up for programming over BT if needed.

I guess software serial allows talking to bluetooth module, but Im not a fan of bitbanging.

I don't know what bitbanging is but there is no clear need to use software serial anyway and, if the Tiny has the resources problems Riva implies, software serial is probably a very bad idea. It's never a good idea, and is best seen as a last resort for the desperate.

Attiny85 doesn't have a dedicated UART, so software serial is the only way to talk uart. Whether it is a bad or a good idea, software serial on attiny85 works with HC-05 bluetooth: http://arduinofy.blogspot.cl/2013/05/attiny-bluetooth.html

And Bitbanging

Thank you, and pardon my bombast. I think I might have been confusing the ATTiny85 with something else anyway. I have some notes on basic bluetooth. I will tell ATTiny85 users not to bother reading them.

So, in conclusion, does that mean Serial Communication will work with my HC-05?

Look at the tutorial I provided on my last post, that should work.

Thank you everyone.
