I recently got a bluetooth USB adapter for my laptop. I'm working on a bluetooth project with an arduino pro mini. I'm using a bluetooth mate gold from sparkfun. I open up 'bluetooth settings' on my computer and click for a connection to be made to the arduino setup. After a few seconds, my computer will indicate that a connection has been made. However, the connection light on the bluetooth mate doesn't light up. It doesn't light up until I open the arduino software on my computer. Why is this? Please help me understand what is going on. Different types of bluetooth modules, flash their lights in different ways. You don't say if you have successful communications at that point. If you do, then what you describe could be normal.
