BMS Switch Project - Request for Guidance

Project: Battery Pack Prototype

Cell Type: 18650s, used, mixed (Yes, I understand the safety issues)

Pack Size: Holds up to 64 individual cells

Cell Slot: Each of the 64 cell slots (addresses) are managed by the Battery Server

Lid: The Case Lid to have a grid of 8 x 8 switchable contact points (positive or negative)

Floor: The Case Floor also to have a grid of 8 x 8 switchable contact points (positive or negative)

The Battery Server cycles thru the Battery Addresses to: Inventory, Connect(or Not), Charge (or Discharge), Monitor, Disconnect, Log and move on to the next cell.

Active Cell: The Active Cell is Under the Control of the Battery Server during Charger/Monitor/Dis-charge, otherwise it is disconnected by the switch.

The main purpose of this project is to demonstrate that all the safety features can be maximized around one unit...a Battery Manager or Battery Server... using only a timer-based switching mechanism to rotate from cell to cell, with the Battery Server caring for every cell, put into the case.

The prototype case will have a few output voltages.

So.. what's your question?

regards

Allan....

I have options for the centralized monitoring/charging/dis-charging, but still trying to figure out how switching design might work. I want to jump from cell to cell every 30 seconds to start, which will be the case's addresses.

The simple way is to use 64 relays...

Allan
