Interesting - somewhat. I doubt it will stop the actual counterfeiters, though. And we'll still be able to get a other boards that aren't counterfeit from places like Seeedstudios and such.
I just don't understand the angry comments of one poster over at that link, though. I mean, why is he even using the entire board in his product? Or why doesn't he understand that he is free to copy the board, but not the artwork, nor use the "Arduino" name on his product (without procuring the license to do so)? Heck, one would think you would -want- to differentiate your product from a competitor, and in the case of his product, the Arduino device is embedded anyhow; no one is going to care about it, because in theory the end-user shouldn't even know it is there!
Now - if the Arduino crew really wanted to tick off the community, while doing something (IMHO) really useful - they would fix that damn pin-spacing screwup (or provide for it - maybe an extra row of header holes?). Perhaps also make the board a better size (with a more regular profile), with holes in the corners for easier mounting in standard enclosures (heck, maybe work with an enclosure manufacturer to standardize on one of their models)...
