What kind of board do you need besides SD slot?

You can turn a micro-to-full-SD adapter sleeve into an Arduino micro-SD adapter for less than $1 in parts..
The cards don't click in and out but the sleeves come with just about every micro-SD.
I need wifi for transmitting data but as someone pointed out I should have access to local storage just in case.
So I'm thinking the yun is ideal and I was wondering if there were others.
You can get SD adapter modules on eBay, around $2 or less. They generally have 8 pins to connect.
Make sure you have female end jumpers for the ones with header pins. Look for DuPont Cables when you shop, they're 40-wire colored ribbon cable with separated ends. You peel off what you need and your wiring stays neater.
Have you ever shopped for Arduino compatible modules? They only need wiring and attention to not connect 5V directly to 3V, things like that. There's 3.3V modules for the newer ARM processor boards.
