Not many folk would know that.
BOD is indeed Biochemical Oxygen Demand used to measure the effect that an effluent like sewage effluent has on oxygen levels.
The 5-day test simply involves measuring the oxygen level of a sample then incubating at a constant temperature for 5 days and measure again. So really all that is needed is an oxygen probe.
Expensive, need a lot of maintenance.
