Bolt lock resistor / voltage

Hi, I'm extremely new to electronics and arduino. This is my first project, and I want to buy the right materials.

I have an Arduino UNO board, and I've ordered a Bolt lock (Amazon.com).

And from the product description I can see that the voltage is dc12v, and current is 1.2A.

  1. What kind of battery will I need to make this work?

  2. What about a resistor? should I calculate R=12voltages /1.2amps = 10ohms?

  3. Anything else i'm missing?

You'll need a transistor to sink 1.2A to energize the solenoid.
N-channel MOSFET would be good. A diode to go across the coil of the solenoid to dissipate the burst of current generated in the solenoid when you turn the transistor from On to Off.

From the spec. we see that putting 12 VDC across
the device, it will draw 1.2 A. So, the 10 ohms is
its resistance.

Hi. Once u define how to drive the mosfet ull get more materials to buy. Dc has to be battery? If not then think of a proper dc power 12v included in your list and if necessarily has to be battery try to find lower voltage bolt lock if possible
