Bonding between two ESP8266 for data communication

Hello,

I'd like to use arduino to program two ES8266 units (as standalone devices) to have a simple data communication link along with a small program that utilizes the use on the gpio pins and UART.

Any guidance to how to do that or is this is possible?

Yes but not it came to asking how to link between two units without exposing access point to other devices and not connect with any other external link.
