Bootloader Error

Hello everyone, Greetings!!!

I tried burning the bootloader onto an Atmega328p-pu using an Arduino UNO R3 but I received an error. When I burned an Atmega328-pu it worked fine but doesn't work with the 328p-pu.

Could you please help.

Thanking you in advance.

With regards and best wishes
Bob

avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
this check.

avrdude done. Thank you.

Getting a signature of 0 is almost always a sign of incorrect wiring, either of the ATmega itself, or of the connection between the ATmega and the "programmer"

Agreed westfw, but does the board setting (Board: "Arduino/Genuino Mega or Mega 2560, ATmega2560 (Mega 2560)" suggest that the wrong board has been selected?
Steve

Yes; that too!
