Ok, that's just silly... though Jeremy Clarkson DOES try to make up the difference on Top Gear.
There seems to be two ways to run a modern company that relies on technology...
- Have the engineers (or EX-engineers) and technicians make the important decisions and strategies.
- Have the accountants and Wall Street make the important decisions and strategies
I'll bet you can figure out why BP was so unprepared to have something go wrong...
I know we used to love hate EXXON... but would EXXON have done better if this had happened to them instead?

What am I getting at? Your techie nerds and geeks can save a company by being diligent rule makers and followers. We know that the soldering Iron is HOT and must be respected and don't delude ourselves with fantasies for greed.
Of course... if you places thousands of networked sensors on the rig using Arduinos... you'd have enough proof something was wrong WAY before you were in grave danger... I'm assuming. ![]()
