I have a BRAND NEW LCD, and it doesn't work. At all. When I plug it in, wire it, put code in, nothing happens. No backlight, not a single thing happens. Also, can you "override the pot?
That scrolling text is incredibly annoying.

A drawing of how you wired everything up including power.
A link to the datasheet for your specific LCD display.
Or did you expect to get specific advice from just from what you posted?
