just got a Arduino Leonardo and it won't connect to computer
tried 4 usb cables across 3 computers (win7,win10,OSX) and no computer shows a device connected.
the board it self green and yellow light comes on solid and stays that way.
tried usb only usb with power supply , tried strait to usb and powered hub with arduino as only device.
the board it self gets very hot with in 1 second.
don't know what else to try, is it possible i got a defect unit?
Check the soldering for any bridges.

everything looks factory perfect
How did u check?

visualy, but did notice two points with out solder, so found a image of back of leonardo, and picture shows solder in the two points.
dont know if those points would affect board, but one of them is on usb
You need to at least use a magnifying glass.
Check for bridges between adjacent solder points on IC's etc.
Re points with no solder - find a schematic.
On the schematic try to find two points that are connected via the points with no solder.
Use a multimeter and check the resistance between the 2 points.
You can also check the circuitry/connections against the schematic.
Well im not trying fix board just trying to determine if i should return it to store for a working one, starting to look like thats my option.
I'm having the same overheating problem, but my board used to work just fine.

Assuming windows.
Goto
Program Files (x86)
Open the Arduino folder
Then open the drivers folder
There is a ZIP file for older drivers (Leonardo was discontinued)
Extract the whole "Old_Arduino_Drivers" folder
Now when you want to update drivers for the Leo point it at that directory.
Or just point it at the drivers folder and include sub folders...either works.
As for the overheating issue ensure NOTHING else is connected to the board and if you are using the power jack then ensure the voltage is at or below 9 volts.
