Brand new MKRZero not recognised by the PC

Hi,

First, I am not sure if this is the right section to post this question and I apologize if there was a more suitable section in the forum.

I just received my genuine (not clone) Arduino MKRzero board but when contented to the PC (Win10) via the USB port, is not recognized. In fact it doesn't even register in the device manager as an "unknown" device. The PC simply cant tell that something has been plugged in.

The arduino itself powers up and the onboard LED blinks. The ledblink sketch must have been programmed.

I even tried to to double click the reset button (as googling suggested) which puts the arduino in the bootloader mode, verified by the dimming led, but that had no effect on the PC either. I also tried different USB ports and even a second PC with the same results.

This is my first attempt on a MKRZero board so I am not that experienced with this system.

I ve run out of ideas here so any help would be appreciated.

Make sure the USB cable is completely plugged into both the Arduino board and the PC.

You may have a damaged/defective or charge-only USB cable. Try a different cable.

Either of the above can result in the power connections being made (and thus LED lights on the board), but no data connections (and thus no port for the board).

Thanks for the input.

I should have mentioned earlier that I have also tried a number of different usb cables that are proven to work flawlessly in other devices both for charging as well as data exchange.
