Does anyone know if the program used to make the images in the arduino.cc tutorials is available for download? Whats it called? It looks really handy.

I believe they were made with Illustrator.

If you Google "Virtual breadboard" you will find serveral products. Some commercial some shareware / freeware.
Electronic Breadboard Templates in SVG, PDF and other formats. Includes a variety with Arduino connectors.

fritzing is what you're searching for!
This "fritzing" looks like something I was writing about ten years ago (they are farther along than where I stopped). I wanted something that could use the same layout and routing algorithms for schematic, breadboard, and printed circuit board (different routing costs and layers, obviously). Looks great, maybe I can contribute at some point.
