Breadboard Diagrams - how were they drawn?

Hey there,

While perusing this page - http://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ShiftOut - I was struck by the diagrams of breadboards in use there. I need to create drawings like that, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel if there is some program that makes it easy and neat.

Anyone know how they were drawn?

I think they were lovingly crafted in Illustrator by Carlyn. A few other people have created similar things in Visio and in SVG.
