I am currently interfacing a touch sensor with my arduino board into a patch on MaxMsp and so far everything is working fine.
I now wish to daisy chain a joystick with the touch sensor but every time i connect the arduino to my breadboard, the arduino turns off.. Even if I simply connect the touch strip via the breadboard to the arduino, the arduino clearly doesnt like it. Im sure i have my positives and negatives correct.. Any clues?

Simon that's the bit that is ringing alarm bells. We suspect that this is wired in such a way that you are shorting out the board or the communications (pins 1 and 2).
Connect it up one wire at a time, starting with ground then +5 and then your sensors one at a time and see when it falls over. I suspect that you have a short between +5 and ground.
