Is it usually possibly to get components with legs like this to reliably fit in any breadboards?
If I've just got a poor breadboard (branded "K and H"), any recommendations for sourcing good ones (brand / suppliers / etc) in the UK? I've seen mention of 3M and Oseoo suggested.
Or any tips on how to deal with legs like this (other than filing them down ... which sort of works, but is a PITA)?
No. I solder wires or header pins to the legs, and plug those in instead.
Breadboards are really just for experiments. For a permanent gizmo, you will need a PCB.
I put those particular buttons onto breadboard by straightening out the pins and putting a 90 degree twist on them, then they go in reasonably well.

Yeah, but I'm experimenting g with buttons before I make the gizmo permanent.

I'd tried straightening them, but the twist ... have yourself a beer on me! That makes perfect sense and is the solution I was looking for.

Oh how I would love to go to my local pub and have a beer!
I thought from last night's news that they were now opening!
12 April for service outside only as far as I know. Do you know differently?
No, I don't live there. Just recall something about it on the news.
I can't keep track of where most of the members of this forum live! I guess mostly it doesn't matter.
Ah, Australia. Is it Friday morning there, or Saturday morning?
And are you guys slowed to go to a pub yet?
If the pubs aren't open where you are, I'll post you one!
(T&C apply. The value of your advice can go up as well as down. Your CPU may be at risk if you do not maintain your voltage.)
I have one in the walkout basement, serves two.

Methinks the pubs are open fairly much normal. QR code on the door and hand sanitiser the main additions.
Saturday morning - we're ahead of you.
